"In 2009  I embarked upon a journey to Kenya, to live with the Maasai people. I embraced their rich culture and traditions by joining the Maasai in their daily life duties and rituals. Through this intimate experience the Massai people have become my family!  The Maasai are an indigenous tribe in Africa. Despite modernity, the Maasai have upheld the origins of their culture and continue to maintain their connection with the land. The most profound characteristic I noticed is that despite the fact the Maasai have limited resources, such as NO clean water or food, they continue to walk with vibrant smiles on their faces.  I believe there happiness resonates because they operate as a community, rather than as an individualistic mindset.  I have learned so much from my experiences traveling around the world, but none can compare to my experience in Africa. Africa taught me the true definition of community! To love one another equally, as much as you love yourself. Through this photo exhibition, it is my hope that you can take your own personal journey with the Maasai. This Photography Exhibit is part of a My Chosen Vessel's movement to empower the Maasai people through art and fashion!"
